Everest Base Camp Trek 14 days itinerary section division day-wise Activities  

Arrival (Day 1) 

You will arrive Nepal, Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport for your Everest Base Camp Trek 14 days. This is the first day of this trip. 

As your international flight is landed, you make an exit with your luggage and meet the representative or authorized personal from your travel partner in Nepal at the exit of Tribhuvan International Airport. You are already given the clues to identify and find the representative there at the exit section of Tribhuvan International Aiprort. 

Meet and greet your travel partner at Tribhuvan International Airport and you will drive to the hotel in Kathmandu where you stay overnight. Prepare all required things, trekking and your personal gears before you depart from your hotel. 

If you arrive Nepal, Kathmandu earlier, you can explore the place you stay overnight ( especially Thamel) or you can do World Heritage Sites Tour for few hours like 3-4 hours before you board on Everest Base Camp Trek. 

Go to enjoy beautiful dinner in the evening in Thamel with your best chosen restaurant. 

Walking and Acclimatization Days (  Walking Days- Day 2- Day 10 = Total days 9, Acclimatization- 1 day at Namche and 1 days at Dingboche- total days 2) 

Phakding ( Day 2- 3 hrs. 200m descent-50m ascent) 

You begin this grand journey to Everest from Kathmandu and drive to Manthali airport, Ramechhap. This drive to Manthali from Kathmandu takes 4-5 hours covering total 12 km. You will follow the road via Mid-Hill Hwy till you get to Manthali airport from Kathmandu. Normally, you drive with sharing transportation and it will be comfortable enough for you to drive for 4- 5 hours.

The drive begins at around 1 am in the morning. We can say like Begin your Everest Base Camp Trek with midnight drive, won’t it be interesting? Won’t it be exciting? Defiantly, yes.


You arrive at Manthali airport, Ramechhap within 4-5 hours. Then, you will fly to Lukla airport. The flight from Manthali airport to Lukla airport is only for 20 minutes. This short and sweet flight will be astonishingly scenic with marvelous mountain views and landscapes of Everest region. 

You land at Lukla airport which is also known as Tenjing –Hillary Airport and exit from the airport. You will meet your entire team here at Lukla and introduce with them. Actually, you will get the porters to carry your luggage during the Everest Base Camp Trek at Lukla. Your trekking company will manage it for you. 

Next, with all required things for Everest Base Camp Trek, you head for Phakding where you stay your first overnight. 

In the very beginning, you walk through beautiful Lukla Town with various trekking equipment and souvenir shops, teashops and restaurants, banks an ATMS, pharmacies, lodges and guesthouses. You even can see clubs and bars in Lukla Town. 

Lukla Airport 

Lukla airport stands at an elevation of 2800m at the lap of mountain with slop 12 degrees. The Lukla airport is also known as Tenjing- Hillary Airport. The airport can accommodate tiny Twin-Otter aircraft daily flying from Manthali, Kathmandu and back. One can catch the flights of Yeti Airlines, Sita Airlines and Buddha Airlines from Kathmandu and Manthali Airport. 

It takes 40 minutes from and to Kathmandu and takes only 20 minutes to fly from Lukla airport. The airport also has a separate helipad where people can take land and take off helicopter flights to Everest Base Camp (5364m), back to Kathmandu and back to Manthali. The helicopter companies like Air Dynasty, Altitude Air, Simrik Air, Manang Air and Everest Helicopter operate daily flights to and from Lukla airport. 


These days, the flights are mostly operated from Manthali airport after 4-5 hours drive from Kathmandu. During peak trekking seasons (Autumn-Sep-Nov and Spring-Mar-May), the Lukla flights are operated from Manthali and during low trekking season (Winter-Dec-Feb and Rainy-Jun-Aug), the Lukla flights are operated from Kathmandu. 

The airstrip of Lukla airport is normally cloudy and has poor visibility. The flights from and to Lukla may get interrupted due to poor visibility and may be postponed and cancelled. So, it’s a good idea to reconfirm your Lukla before heading towards Everest region and recommended to have one spare day to accommodate with the flight cancellation and postponement. 

You will walk to the end of Lukla Town and you will see Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit Office. You make an entry of your details and have all required  permits. If you want to skip the crowd and save time in peaks trekking seasons ( Autumn and Spring), you can fetch your personal derails with a digital scanner from Kathmandu before you board on the trail. 


Your guide will help you obtain all the necessary permits for your Everest Base Camp Trek and you resume your walk towards Phakding. 

The beautiful villages you walk through on the way to Phakding from Lukla are Choplung, Thadokoshi and Ghat. These villages are the settlements of local Sherpa people where you can see distinct lifestyle, culture and civilization. Most importantly, you will enjoy moving the holy Buddhist prayer wheels on the trail. 

You will also enjoy walking through deep birch, juniper, fir and pine trees. If you go in spring season, you will celebrate this walk though different seven colors of flowering rhododendron. One very interesting thing on this section of trail while walking to Phakding is the melodies of birds. Among them, you can enjoy the bird saying “ Beeee Fereeee” “Beeee Fereeee” which is very interesting and unique to listen.  

The Dudhkoshi River will be very fascinating and very natural during this walk to Phakding from Lukla. 

As you arrive at Phakding, finally, you will check in local lodges/guesthouse and get refreshed. You can find bar, club, bakery, ATM, money exchangers and find Dudhkoshi river by your lodge. 

Enjoy the evening with your favorite meal item as mentioned in the menu. You are recommended picking up local cuisine for your dinner here which will be very authentic for you. 

Namche ( Day 3-6 hrs-100m descent-1000m ascent) 

Today, you will have two major highlights: Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Namche Bazaar, a popular tourist hub in Khumbu region. 

Initially, after breakfast at around 7, you will head for Maojo. Monjo from Phakding is 2-3 hours walk. You will get Sagarmatha National Park Office here at Monjo. You will also see a very strict security provided by Nepal Army here at Manjo. They will check your Everest Base Camp Trek Permits and also your luggage. If you have any kind of weapons and drones, you are not allowed to enter Sagarmatha National Park. 

After you check your permits and luggage, you will walk towards Jorsalle village. Now, you begin to enjoy this walk more excitedly by crossing thrilling suspension bridges, local Sherpa settlements, and deep woods in Sagarmatha National Park and with the melodious Dudhkoshi River

You will have lunch either at Jorsalle before heading to Namche Bazaar. You will see numbers of donkeys carrying heavy loads on their backs. Make sure that you are safe while donkeys are using the same trail. 


After having lunch at Jorsalle, you will ascend up to Namche Bazaar spending more than 3 hours. The walk from the suspension bridge at the base of Namche is steep up. You cross the thrilling and high suspension bridge and begin this climb. You need plenty of water for this section to prevent you from dehydration. 

The pine trees on the trail will refresh you a lot during this ascent. At the same time, you may be interrupted by donkeys frequently. Be careful about it, they may push you to the edge of the trail and meet an accident. 

As you get to the top of the Namche, you can see another security check and you again have to show your permits before entering Namche Bazaar. You will see a board written ‘Welcome to Namche Bazaar 'at the entrance and you will enjoy the massive prayer wheels run by water and also a beautiful garden. 

In fact, you will be amazed to see such a beautiful Himalayan town in the far mountain area of Nepal. Namche is the most popular tourist hub in Everest region. People can get the facilities like clubs, bars, spas and massages, souvenirs and trekking equipment shops, groceries, ATMs and banks, money exchangers and hotel and restaurants. Some people love staying even a week in Namche Bazaar. 

One can do side trips in Namche like walking to Thame Monastery, Walking up to Everest View Hotel and Khumjung Village and Syangboche. Among these side trips, one can see Everest from Hotel Everest View ( 3880m)

Tengboche ( Day 4-5hrs. 350m descent-750m ascent) 

Walking to Tengboche from Namche will be very delightful. Ascending up to the flat trail through Namche Bazaar and viewing astonishing Amadablam and Thamserkhu will the moments of todays walk. 


You will continue walking flat trail where you may encounter mules and yaks carrying heavy loads till you get to the two trails: one leading you to Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Valley and the other taking you to Tengboche. You walk down to the river to Punbgithanka and walk up to Tengboche through pine forest. 

The walk from Pungithanka is steep up till you get Tengboche. When you arrive Tengboche, you will see a beautiful town with lodges and a grand monastery. The Tengboche monastery is one of the most ancient monasteries in Everest region and people love doing meditation and yoga here. 

Tengboche Monastery 

The Tengboche Monastery is located to the edge of the Tengboche town. It is located towards the north-east of Twngboche town. This massive and grand monastery is not as old as Thame Monastery but represent very old collections of arts and architectures of Buddhism. 

The first monastery in Tengboche was built by Lama Gulu, a holy monk from Khumjung village but was demolished by the earthquake of 1934.  As the first was destroyed in the earthquake in 1934, the second monastery was built and again it was burnt by the fire and the recent one was built. 

The recent monastery of Tengboche was built in 1993. It has 4 m high Sakyamuni Buddha statue to worship. Inside the monastery, beautiful paintings and relics fascinate the visitors and prayers and make the entire monastery surrounding cool and peaceful for meditation and yoga in the monastery premises. 


The Tengboche Monastery is very famous for Mani Rimdu Festival that takes place in the month of either October or November according to Tibetan calendar which is known as Ninth Tibetan Month. On this special day, Tengboche town is crowded with prayers and the visitors to celebrate Mani Rimdu Festival with mask dances, feasting, drinking and merry making activities. 

You can also take part in this incredible Mani Rimdu Festival organized in the Khumbu region of Nepal at Tengboche Monastery if you are travelling in October or in November in Nepal and doing your Everest Base Camp Trek. For this, we can set your Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary in such way so that you can be at Tengboche Monastery on the day of Mani Rimdu Festival. 

At the Tengboche Monastery, one can attend morning and evening prayer (at pm in the afternoon and at 6 in the morning.) Taking photos and videos, smoking and drinking and breaching the rules of monastery are strictly prohibited inside the monastery and at its premises. 

Dingboche ( 5) 

Walking to Dingboche from Tengboche is relatively easier as you follow the flat trail all the day. You will enjoy this walk to Dingboche via Diboche village where you can find few lodges and teahouses for lunch and snacks. Hitting the trail hard with your boots through diverse species of plants in Sagarmatha National Park like fir, birch, juniper, rhododendron, pine and many other flowering and non-flowering plants will be a lifetime memory while walking from Tengboche to Dingboche. 


You will get amazed to see a huge town of Dingboche with big hotels, restaurants, teashops, equipment and grocery shops and cheese factories. You don’t really expect such things in Dingboche, a Himalayan town in Everest Region on the way to Lobuche and Gorekhshep. 

You can have luxury suite accommodation here at Dingboche as you do in Namche Bazaar. Dingboche and the Namche are the places on the way to Everest Base Camp Trek. Climbers who climb Island Peak begin their climbing from Dingboche and people can trek to Chukkung Valley and Chukkung ri from Dingboche. 

Lobuche ( Day 6     - 5 hrs. 700m ascent) 


Walk past the village of Periche from Dingboche and follow the path to Dughla.  You will walk along ridge towards the village of Dusa( 4503m). On the trail, you will see mesmerizing views of Taboche and Cholatse. Also, Ama Dablam loom as a spectacular mountain view on the trail. Now, you will follow the trail fed by glacier stream. You, actually, cannot find goo accommodation here at Dughla and you will continue your walk towards Lobuche. 

From Dughla, you will follow the trail by graveyards and moraine of Khumbu Glacier. The memorials of Sherpa people including brave climbers like Babu Chhiri Sherpa, climbed Mt. Everest ten times are spiritual to see on the way to Lobuche. 

As you cross the ridge, you will view majestic peak of Pumori (7165m). You can also see the trail leading the trekkers to Chola Pass while ascending up to Lobuche(4900m)

On the way to Lobuche from Dignbcohe, there was an Italian Pyramid but the pyramid has been converted into a lodge these days. You cannot see the pyramid right now there. 

You can climb the ridge from Lobuche village and can view Khumbu Glacier, Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse. 

You will get basic lodges with twin sharing accommodation here at Lobuche. No luxury accommodation is possible here. The layer of oxygen get thinner during the nighttime, be careful. 

Gorekhshep (day 7   - 2.30 hrs, 250m Ascent) 


As you leave and ascend through Lobuche village, you will follow the trail between glaciers and moraines till you get to Gorekhshep. The mighty Khumbu glacier will be visible all the trail and Mt. Pumori will welcome you heartily and you will make a numbers of picture on the trail. 

Some people may have acute mountain sickness symptoms on this section of trek ( Lobuche to Gorekhshep). If you have got such kind of symptoms, ascend slowly and very carefully with some basic medicines if required as prescribed by doctors and your trekking leader. If the problem still persists, you can go to Everest Base Camp and walk down to Lobuche for overnight stay. Some people cannot/don’t want to stay overnight at Gorekhshep as it is located at almost 5000m and you may have suffocation, headache and other acute mountain sickness problems. But, it’s all your choice. Act according to the situation. 

You will enjoy herd of yaks and their hoofs prints on the trail though you are exhausted. From the final ridge while approaching to Gorekhshep, you can see the first view of kalapattar( 5545m) and also magnificent Mt Everest. You love capturing Mt. Everest as it looms very close to you and you are very delighted and begin the celebrations here with several photographs with Mt. Everest. 

How many lodges are there in Gorekhshep? 

As you ascend GorekhShep, you will find it flat desert like place (5160m) at the foot b of kalapattar  with certain numbers of lodges (6-7) like Snowland, Himalayan Lodge, Buddha Lodge,  Mount Garden Kalapatthar Guesthouse, Yeti Lodge and Hotel Everest Inn with electric blanket. You will have very basic accommodation here at Gorekhshep. 

During Spring and Autumn (Mar-May and Sept. Nov), Gorekhshep is crowded with massive number of people and you may not get right accommodation for overnight stay. So, you can complete both tasks (walking to Everest Base Camp and Climbing Kalapatthar) on the same day and walk down to Lobuche for overnight stay. This way will be more comfortable for you. 

Can I see Everest from Gorekhshep? 

Actually, you cannot see Everest from Gorekhshep but you can enjoy the views of Khumbu Glacier,  Khumbu Icefall  and the trail going up to the top of Kalapatthar. Don’t expect to see Everest from Gorekhshep. You can see numbers of memorial of Everest climbers in Gorekhshep. 


If you are planning to stay overnight at Gorekhshep, you can put all your luggage and backpack at the lodge at Gorekhshep and walk comfortably to Everest Base Camp with your gadgets and water bottle. 

Everest Base Camp (day 7, 2 hrs. 200m ascent and 200m descent) 

On the way to Everest Base Camp, you will follow the trail across Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall (5340m) with drained moraines. The trail is flat with gradual ascent till you get Everest Base Camp

What I expect at Everest Base Camp? 

Everest Base Camp is flat landscape with rocks and colorful prayer flags. You can see a number of beautiful rocks’ piles for the memory and good luck. People love celebrating special moments like weeding, honeymoon, engagement and many other special events there at Everest Base Camp as people want to make history in their life. If you go in Spring (Mar-May), you can see the climbers who are there for Mt. Everest Expedition enjoying in the tents and camps by playing cards, reading, enjoying music etc. 


You can make as many pictures and videos you like there at Everest Base Camp for the beautiful and historical memories and moments. You can see Khumbu Glacier, Khumbu Icefall, Loa Tse and Nupse very clearly but just a little view of Mt. Everest from Everest Base Camp. But, if you climb the nearby ridge and from ridges on the way to and back from Everest Base Camp, one can see specular view of Mt. Everest Base Camp

Celebrate this moment with your friend, family, trekking crew by congratulating, hugging, kissing and exchanging something special at Everest Base Camp and walk down to Gorekhshep for overnight stay or you can walk down to Lobuche too. 

The Everest Marathon

Everest Marathon is world highest running race organized in Khumbu region of Nepal every year. It was first organized in 1987. The destinations to cover during this race are: Everest Base Camp, Gorekh Shep, Lobuche, Tengboche and Namche Bazaar. As it ends at Namche Bazaar starting from Everest Base Camp, it covers total distance of 42km (26.2 mile). The Everest Marathon is organized on every May 29 to mark Everest Day as Edmund Hillary and Tenjing Norgay Sherpa scaled the Mt. Everest successfully on the very day. Therefore, 29th May every year will be very special for adventure lovers around the world and wish to participate in this special event in Everest region of Nepal. 

The Everest Marathon is host by British Trekking Agency, Bufo Ventures, in coordination of Nepalese volunteers and trekking agencies. This is a charity running race and all the funds will go to uplift and maintain the tourists’ projects around Khumbu region. 

You can apply for the Everest Marathon by providing the details to the host or we also can reserve your seat for Everest Marathon. If you book though us, we will safely take you to Everest Base Camp and let you take part in Everest Marathon and again transfer you back to Kathmandu. An Ascent to Klapattar (5545m) (4 hours- 200 ascent- 200 descent) 

An ascent  up to Kalapattar, normally, begins early in the morning at around 5 am. You have to leave Gorekhshep earlier in order to catch the spectacular sunrise view hitting Mt. Everest and other summits in the region. Witnessing the glorious moment of stunning sunrise with Mt. Everest will be the moment for lifetime for the trekkers. 

It takes around 2 hours to get the top of Kalapatthar( 5545). The hill station of Kalapatthar is one of the most popular viewpoints in Khumbu region to capture 360 degree view of Mt. Everest and Khumbu glacier.  


The hill is named as Kalapattar as it has all black precious rocks. Kalapattar means black rock in Nepali. As you ascent up to the top of the hill, you will see hundreds of people setting their cameras and look very excited to capture sunrise and Mt. Everest at the same time. The top of Kalapattar is windy and cold. You cannot stay longer there at Kalapattar as it the wind is sturdy and freezing cold and the temperature is normally negative all round the year. 

From the top of Kalapattar, you can see 360 degree Mt. Everest, Pumori, Nupse, Loa Tse and Lobuche West Peak visibly just inform of your eyes. You don’t really believe that you are witnessing these mountain peaks at the same time with spectacular sunrise. You don’t care though the wind at the top of Kalapattar is freezing cold and challenging to you. 

Capture as many photos and videos as you like from the top of Kalapattar which will be beautiful memories for you later. Warning: Don’t try to jump and run haphazardly here at the top of Kalapattar and don’t try to stay longer hours (more than 2). Also, don’t pollute the surrounding by throwing the trash elsewhere and don’t collect and pick any rocks from Kalapattar. 

Acclimatization Days (total days-2) 

Acclimatization plays a vital role to accomplish Everest Base Camp Trek. People require at least 2 days for acclimatization in Everest Base Camp Trek. The day 1 acclimatization will be at Namche(3400m) after you ascend above 3000m and the other /second day will be at Dingboche (4400m) after you climb above 4000m. These two acclimatization days are must allocated time for before you head to Everest Base Camp (5364m)

Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar ( Day 1, 3400m)

Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar is the first acclimatization before heading towards Everest Base Camp. As you climb above 3000m, you require one day acclimatization before going up to 5000m. During this acclimatization day, you can do following side trips while acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar. 


A Walk to Chhorkung Village ( 3 hrs- 120m ascent and 120m descent) 

Chhorkung Village is located at an elevation of 3540m above the sea level just above Namche Bazzar. Chhorkung village serves a beautiful day-walk while acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar rather than sitting idle at Namche Bazaar for the whole day. Ascend up to the flat trail that leads you to Army Barrack and the trail past through it. Next, you will see Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center where you can enter free of cost. 

From the flat area of visitors center, one can witness Nupse, Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam and Thamserkhu . You will enjoy the moments with beautiful photographs and videos here. 

Next, if you want to walk little further after you walk down from the Visitors Center, you can go to Sherpa Cultural Museum. You need to buy the admission here and only you can enter the museum. You will be shocked to see very exciting interesting collections of photographs of Everest summiteers and Sherpa cultural objects. 

After you visit Sherpa Cultural Museum, you can walk down to Namche bazaar and enjoy the afternoon with some strolls and with little nap. 

A Walk to Thame ( 6-7 hrs.-600 ascent and 600 descent) 

A Walk to Thame village( 3750m) is little tougher and lengthy than other side trips from Namche Bazaar on the day of acclimatization. If you are confident enough to walk for the whole day during this acclimatization, you can set off to Thame Village for the full-day walk. 

The village of Thame leads the trekkers to Tashi Lapcha Pass(5755m), Renjo La Pass(5345m) and Nangpa La(5716m) to Tibet. Many trekkers walk through Thame village while doing their Everest Three Passes Trek. 

The trail passé through rhododendron, prayer flags, mani walls and you will enjoy yak grazing on the way. As you reach the Thame Village, you will see some scattered lodges and teahouses for foods and accommodation. If you want to stay overnight here, it is possible. 

The main attraction of Thame Village is Thame Monstery/Thame Gumpa founded in 1667 and renovated several times later. Thame Monastery is considered to to be the oldest monastery in entire Khumbu region. The mani walls, prayer falgs, murals, chortens and many artistic paintings. The main shrines here are of Guru Rimpoche Chenresig and Sakyamuni Buddha. Every year, in the fourth Tibetan month (in May) , hundreds of holy monks go there to Thame Monastery to celebrate Mani Rimdu Festival. 

An Ascent up to Syangboche (3790m), Khumjung Village(3780m) and Hotel Everest View(3880m)

The trekkers mostly choose ascending up to Syagnboche airstrip and Walk to Hotel Everest View  during this first day acclimatization at Namche Bazaar.  Some of them walk further to Khumjung Village which is the largest human settlement in Khumbu region. 

To ascend up to Syangboche Airstrip from Namche, it takes 1 hour. The airstrip is not in operation right now. You can see some house and flat runway of Syangboche airport here.

From here, you will either choose to walk to Khumjung village or Hotel Everest View.

Khumjung Village (3780m)

Walk to Khumjung Village, the largest Sherpa settlement in entire Everest region. Some trekkers love spending a week here in Khumjung village with authentic Sherpa foods and culture. In this village, Edmund Hillary has opened for the education of the children of the locality in 1961. More than 350 students can get education here. This is a secondary school. 

The village has a popular Gompa (monastery) which protects ‘Yeti Skull’ proved by Edmund Hillary. It is very exciting moments to go and visit the monastery with mythical ‘Yeti Skull. 

The Khunjung Village has several local lodges and teahouses where trekkers can stay overnight. It will be very exciting and memorable moments to stay at least a night here in Khumjung Village. One can explore and get familiar with the most resourceful Sherpa people’s culture, lifestyle, local foods, history and civilization here in Khumjung village. 

One can view grand Thamserkhu, Ama Dablam and Khumbila. Khumbila Mountain is considered as a holy god of Sherpas and none is allowed to climb it.  

Hotel Everest View (3880) 

Hotel Everest View holds a Guianese Book Record as the hotel located in the highest elevation of the world. The hotel was founded by Takashi Miyahara, a Japanese man who passed away of COVID-19. Now, the hotel owns by his daughter. 

A walk to Hotel Everest View from Syangboche takes 1.30 hrs. On the way, you can get some hotels and lodges for snacks, tea and coffee. 

To the end of the hill at edge, you will see a grand hotel, Hotel Everest View located at an elevation of 3880m above the sea level. The hotel offer you very exciting and authentic items of foods and the premises of the hotel offer you an excellent view of Mt. Everest, the top of the world. 


Majority of people while acclimatizing at Namche hike up to Hotel Everest View, create a history and memories of stepping and having snacks and some authentic cuisine at the hotel located at the highest elevation of the world. They love making photographs, videos and at least, have some foods here for the memory witnessing tallest peak of the world, Mt. Everest. 

The people who are doing Everest Short Trek or Everest Panorama Trek, climb up to Hotel Everest View from Namche Bazaar and celebrate magnificent views of all mountain views including Loa Tse, Nupse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Thamserkhu and Everest. 

Acclimatization at Dingboche ( Day 2) 

This is acclimatization day 2 while you are acclimatizing at Dingboche(4400m). You already had day 1 acclimatization at Namche Bazaar (3400m) before you head Tengboche and Dingboche. Both Namche Acclimatization and Dingboche Acclimatization are mandatory before the trekkers head towards Lobuche and Everest Base Camp. 

As Ascent to Nangkartshang Hill/Summit ( 1.30 hrs- 400m ascent, 400m descent)

While having this extra day and night at Dingboche, the trekkers can walk up to Nangkartshang Gompa or Hill on the north ridge of Dingboche. The walk is 400m climb spending around 1.30 hrs. The gompa and the hilltop offer some of the majestic views of mountain summits including Mt. Makalu (8463m) and other surrounding hills all round.

Some of the climbing groups climb up to the peak of Nahgkartshang (5090m) if they are preparing for Island Peak climbing. 


A Walk to Chukkung Valley ( 5-6 hrs, 490 ascent, 490 descent) 

This walk to Chukkung Valley is more challenging than walking up to Nahgkarstshang hill and the summit. This is a full-day walk. You will have lunch in Chukkung Valley and walk back to Dingboche in the late afternoon. 

You follow the trail along Imja River through Imja Valley for Chukkung Valley day-hike while acclimatizing at Dingboche. 

As you board on the trail, you will see perilous Kongma La Pass (5535m) and Amphu Lapcha Pass (5845m) trails . The Kongma La Pass is a high mountain pass in Makalu Barun National Par and Kongma La Pass will take you to Lobuche directly. 

Passing through the trail fed by alpine vegetations and Imja Khola (River), you will reach Bibre, where you can find some teashop for stop and rest. Within 30 minutes of walk from Bibre through arid moraines, you will get to Chukkung villge or Chukkung Valley. 

You will find some lodges and teahouse here for foods and overnight stay. The village of Chukkung is all surrounded by mountain peaks and glaciers including popular Island Peak, a popular trekking peak in Nepal in Everest region. You can have your lunch here with some hot drinks like tea, coffee, hot lemon, hot chocolate and many other local items of foods. 

Further, if the trekkers want to challenge something tougher walk, they can climb to the summit of Chukkung Ri (5546m). From Chukkung Ri, one can witness all surrounding mountain peaks including Ama Dablam, Baruntse and Makalu.

Moreover, real adventure lovers can walk to Island Peak Base Camp(4970) spending more 5-6 hours making the Chukkung village base for overnight stay. The walk to Island Peak Base Camp is absolutely challenging yet rewarding. 

Returning Days (total days-3) Periche, Namche and Lukla 

Periche- Day 8  

After your exciting and marvelous ascent to Kalapattar (5545m) and celebrating the victory over it with fabulous photographs of Mt. Everest, Pumori, Loa Tse, Nupse, Makalu and other mountain summits towering into the deep blue sky with awesome freshly fallen sunrays, you walk down to Gorekhshep (5110m) and have your breakfast with your team. 

After you have your breakfast, you walk down to Lobuche(4910m) hitting the same trail for the second time. You will frequently turn left and take a U turn to see fabulous Everest and Khumbu glacier again as you cannot and don’t really want to miss such grand scenes and setting of the top of the world. The trail from Gorekhep back to Lobuche is all the way down and very comfortable for you to walk. 


As you reach Lobuche, you can have some rest and tea/coffee of some light snacks. You will proceed your walking towards Dughla village where you can have few teahouses. You again can have some rest here and recall the memories of walking to Everest Base Camp and ascending up to Kalapattar with memorable mountain views. 

Continue walking down to Periche via Dughla with a comfortable trail . You will encounter the two trails divided: one leading you to Dingboche and other to Periche. You will catch the trail leading you to Periche and within maximum of 30 minutes’ walk; you will get a beautiful Periche village. We are not going to stay overnight at Dingboche this time as the we want to taste different place and different taste of Everest Base Camp Trek staying in different village, Periche. 

You can celebrate the evening with local authentic Sherpa cuisine like yak steak if you are not vegetarian and if you re vegetarian, you can veg. Sherpa Stew. You can check the menu provided by local lodge and order your food accordingly. 

Namche- Day 9

Today, you, first, walk to Tengboche town where you can have some break for tea and light snacks. If you missed some explorations of Tengboche Monastery previously while heading towards Everest Base Camp via Dingboche, you can ask your trekking leader and can spare some minutes for it. 

Next, you will walk down to Pungithanga through pine forest. This is a steep descent till you get to the riverside. You will have lunch here at Punigthanga with the melodious stream water. You will spend around an hour here for lunch and ascend up to the flat trail leading your towards Namche Bazaar. 


Before you walk down to Namche Bazaar, you will enjoy magnificent views of Amadablam and Thamserkhu along with beautiful Namche Bazaar. You love making photographs of these three highlights before you go to stay overnight in Namche Bazaar. 

You can go to explore the town, buy some souvenirs, enjoy drinks and favorite local cuisines, enjoy clubs and pubs activities, have the pleasure of sauna, spa and massage to relieve you stress and exhaustion. You can celebrate the evening with grand win dinner with your crew members before heading Lukla. 

Lukla –Day 10 

This is the final day walk in Everest Base Camp Trek from Namche to Lukla town. You will entirely follow the same trail as you used earlier while ascending from Phakding. 

After your breakfast, walk down to the Checkpoint Station just below Namche Bazaar. You will exit from checkpoint stationed just below Namche Bazaar. Walk down further to get the bottom of the hill. Before you get the bottom of the hill, you can see Mt. Everest for the final time through some big trees from the edge of public toilets. Enjoy this ultimate view of Mt. Everest and continue walking down to the high and thrilling suspension bridge and cross it. Next, you will follow the Dudhkoshi River to get Jorsalle, Monjo and Phakding. You will have lunch at Chaurikharka or Monjo or in Phakding as the time permits as your guide prepares and will make a final ascent up to Lukla.

You will make a record of your details that you make an exit from Sagramtha Nationa Park from Monjo Sagarmatha National Park Entry Office before heading towards Phakding and Lukla. And finally, you will go with the same process before you approach to Lukla town. The Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permits Office is located nearby Lukla town. The Lukla town is 20 minutes walk from this Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permits Office. 

Enter into Lukla town and check in lodge. This is the final evening which you can enjoy with your entire team including your team leader and porters. Your porters may not be with you from the next day as they are locally hired from Lukla to Lukla. You can organize a grand party for them for you with some tipping programs as well. 

Go to collect some souvenirs, enjoy drinks and your favorite food item for the last time in Everest region. 

Lukla to Manthali and then Kathmandu – Day 11

Normally, the Lukla flights are operated early in the morning as the weather condition of Lukla airport can change anytime.  If you are travelling in Autumn and Spring ( the months of Sep, Oct, Nov, Mar, Apr and May), you will, first, fly to Manthali and then drive to Kahtmandu. But, if you are travelling in Winter and Rainy ( the months of Dec, Jan, Feb, Jun, Jul and August), you will have a direct flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. 

If you fly from Laukla to Manthali, it takes only 20 minutes. You land at Manthali airport located in Ramechhap district of Bagmati Zone and you will drive for 4-5 hours to get Kathmandu. 

Drive via country roads, landscapes and the local towns on the way to Kathmandu from Manthali. You will arrive in Kathmandu and check in the hotel you want to stay. 

You can go out for a beautiful dinner with other activities you like in Thamel, the most popular tourist hub in Nepal, in the capital of Nepal. Normally, your travel company will organize a grand farewell dinner with some beautiful and authentic cultural shows. You can share the experiences and the feedbacks of the trek you had with your team and the company who operated your Everest Base Camp Trek. 

Don’t forget to let your travel company to drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport the next day. 

Departure/Farewell - Day 12

The last day of your Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal. The representative of the trekking company will drop you safely to the Tribhuvan International Airport on time so that you can easily catch your flight to homewards. 

Before you leave the hotel, check each of your belongings and luggage storage if you have any. Collect rightly before you leave for your home from the hotel. 

You will enjoy your international flights with beautiful memories you have made with your team members for your Everest Base Camp Trek and the photographs and videos you captured during the trek.
