How hard is Mardi Himal Trek?

The Mardi Himal Trek is a moderate trek, even suitable for beginners, with decent fitness levels. The maximum altitude is attained at 4,500 meters at Mardi Himal Base Camp, offering great views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli peaks.

Mardi Himal Trek takes a total round trip of about 40-50 kilometers from Pokhara, depending on the route you follow from Pokhara.

The Mardi Himal Trekking trail is well-marked and includes a variety of terrain: forests, ridges, rocky paths, and some steep ascents. It is less crowded compared to other popular treks such as the Annapurna Base Camp, yet it is a worthy Himalayan experience.

The trekkers usually walk 4-6 hours daily upward in Mardi Himal Trek, according to their pace and needs for acclimatization.

While ascending Above 3,000 meters, altitude sickness can be a concern. It is important to acclimatize, hydrate, and pace properly.

Novice trekkers should ascend gradually and take altitude sickness medication if needed. Preparation for Mardi Himal Trek should include cardio exercises, such as running or cycling, and a few practice hikes with a loaded backpack. Mental stamina and the ability to adapt to basic tea house accommodations are called for.

All in all Mardi Himal Trek is a great trekking trip for those seeking a shorter, scenic Himalayan adventure without the extensive demands of higher-altitude treks like Everest Base Camp and Manaslu Circuit.

Is Mardi Himal harder than ABC?

Mardi Himal Trek is less challenging compared to ABC but has its challenges. The altitude reached by Mardi Himal is 4,500m at Mardi High Camp, whereas ABC is 4,130m, thus almost similar risks of altitude sickness.

However, Mardi's trail is steeper, narrower, and less developed, with sections passing through dense forests and exposed ridges.
