The Mardi Himal Trek 8 days itinerary is a comprehensive trek itinerary combining Kathmandu City Tour, Pokhara CityTour and trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp. Mardi Himal Trek  commences from Kathmandu with a Kathmandu city tour, a visit to World Heritage Sites including Pashupatinath Temple, Swyombhunath Stupa, Bouddhanatha Stupa and Patan Durbar Square and the trip switches to beautiful Pokhara city. Before you explore Pokhara city, you will trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4800m) or Mardi Himal View Point ( 4500m) and celebrate the mountain views and the adventurous walk through the unspoiled nature of Annapurna Himalayas. The Mountains like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Himal Chuli, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal will be marvelous to capture that you won’t believe your eyes at the time.

After you wrap up the official trekking, you will come back to Pokhara city to explore some natural and religious sites. Finally, before you head back to Kathmandu, you will explore Davis Fall, Gupteswor Mahadev Cave, Phewa Lake, World Peace Pagoda and Pumdikot Mahadev Statue. You will either take a drive of 6 hours or a flight of 35 minutes to get back to Kathmandu to end your 8 days Mardi Himal Trek . 

What are the required permits for Mardi Himal Trek? 

One requires obtaining two different trekking permits for Mardi Himal Trek. These are TIMS Card ( Trekking Information Management System) and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit. These two types of required permits for Mardi Himal Trek can be obtained easily through the trekking company located in Kathmandu. You can simply ask them to obtain these permits for you.

TIMS Card and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit are mandatory and are included in the cost pay for your Mardi Himal Trekking trip. Actually, ACAP costs Rs. 3000 for foreigners, Rs. 1500 for SAARC Nationals and TIMS Card Costs Rs 2000 for foreigners and Rs. 1000 for SAARC Nationals. 

If you are an individual trekkers and doing the Mardi Trek independently, you an obtain these trekking permits by visiting the head office of Nepal Tourism Board located in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. 

What is the difficulty level of Mardi Himal Trek? 

Mardi Himal Trek is a moderate adventure trekking trip up to 4500 m, Mardi Himal Viewpoint,  above sea level, the highest elevation of  Mardi Himal Trek. If you want to ascend to Mardi Himal Base Camp, you can do it and Mardi Himal Base Camp Base Camp is located at an elevation of 480m, higher than Mardi Himal View Point. The trekking trip below 5000 m is considered to be a moderate trek and even the fresher with good level of preparations can conquer over Mardi Himal Trek. So, even beginners with some skills and moderate stamina trekking can accomplish this trek. However, one requires a good level of fitness and proper preparations like regular walks and exercises on daily basis.

Having packed with the right trekking gear and with a good level of fitness, you can do this trek without any hindrances on the trail to Mardi Himal Viewpoint (4500m) and Mardi Himal Base Camp (4800m) and back to Pokhara.

There is no age bar for  Annapurna Base Camp Trek and even beginners, children above 10 years and people of old age like 70 can do this trek with the right pacing and acclimatization but need to be accompanied by a professional trekking guide and hire porter to carry your stuffs in the mountain if necessary. 

Those who have 6-7 hours walking stamina with the ascent 400-700 meters each day in the mountain, getting the highest elevation 4500 m/4800m can do this trek.

How are the foods and accommodations in Mardi Himal Trek? 

Untill Pokhara city, trekkers will enjoy luxury or standard accommodation and they can have the food items they like. But, when they ascend up to Potahna and Forest Camp or Mardi Himal High Camp they may not get such chance to have the accommodation and food items like in the cities area. However, you needn’t be sad, there are plenty of lodges and guesthouses to organize your accommodation and foods and even tents for overnights stay if you want. Moreover, your guide will manage your beautiful food and accommodation for you during the trek. The local guesthouses and the lodges will offer you food item with certain criteria with prices mentioned in the menu during your Mardi Himal Trek 8 days. 

Note: Sometimes, it may be difficult to find the right and suitable accommodation during two peak trekking seasons in Nepal: Autumn( Sep-Nov) and Spring ( Mar-May). Please don't blame your guide for not getting right accommodation and foods for you in your 8 days Mardi Himal Trek.  if you are making this trek in the months of Sept, Oct and Nov of the year. Sometimes, you should be willing to pay some extra for your accommodation as it is very hard to get. Optionally, you will be provided outdoor tents for overnight stay and you should be willing to go with this as well. 

How is the connectivity access in Mardi Himal Trek? 

The trekkers will enjoy a good connectivity of Wi-Fi and phone calls all round the trip to and back to Pokhara via Dhampus. During your stay in Pokhara, you will have the access of fine quality of Wi-Fi and internet for communication. 

The local lodges and teahouses provide the facility of Wi-Fi during the overnight stay and in your free time. Most of the guesthouse along the Mardi Himal Trekking Trail don't charge any extra cost for Wi-Fi and there may be a few cases that some lodges charge for the Wi-Fi service like Rs. 200-300 per device. Kindly be prepared accordingly. 

The best option for you to access internet and phone calls in your smart phone will be: installing local Nepali SIM Card like NT ( Nepal Telecom and NCELL. You can get Nepali SIM Card easily from Kathmandu and Pokhara. You can get it by producing your passport copy and passport sized photogram within 15 minutes. If you are staying in Thamel, you can see the information all around about buying or getting Local SIM Cards in your personal smart phone. This way, you can enjoy all phone calls and internet services along the route without any problems in trek to Mardi Himal in Nepal. 

Can I get hot shower in Mardi Himal Trek? 

Yes, trekkers are offered with relaxing, refreshing and good enough hot showers with solar- heating system or gas- heating system at the local lodges along the Mardi Himal Trekking Trail. Once they provide the shower facility to the trekkers, they charge you like Rs 400-500 depending on the situation and trekking season you travel to Marddi Himal. Ask the instructions and manuals before going for hot shower in the bathrooms woth local lodge owner or your guide as you may not be familiar with the system they have there. 

But, during rainy, cloudy or snowy day, one may not be able to enjoy hot shower at the local lodge during Mardi Trek. The solar heated shower may not function properly to provide the hot shower facility to the trekkers. But, one can depend on gas-heated shower along the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. 

How is the drinking water facility in Mardi Trek? 

There are two options for drinking water facility in Mardi Himal trip. These are: buying bottled water or buying water from Local lodge. The bottled water is sold by local teahouse along the trek taking Rs. 150-200 from you per liter. You can get the bottled drinking water instantly from the teashop. 

The other way of getting drinking water for your Mardi Base Camp Trek is from local lodge which is managed by Annapurna Conservation Area Project. The ACAP provides both purified and boiled water for the trekkers who are doing the trip to Mardi Himal. You can ask the local lodge/teahouse to boil water for you and if you want cold drinking water, you can instantly fill your water bottle with completely safe and purified drinking water. 

For this, you need to pay Rs 100-200 per liter you fill. You can also ask the local lodges to provide you boiled and safe warm drinking water. 

So, you can either go with bottled water or the water provided by local lodge managed by ACAP along the Mardi Himal Trekking Trail as the facility of drinking water during the trip. 

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu 1,338 m and transfer to hotel.


After you land in Kathmandu, our staff will attend you at the airport. They will bring you to the hotel in a private van or car. You will refresh and enjoy short walks on the streets while our staff prepares for the trek. You will have dinner and spend the night in Kathmandu.

Optional Itinerary: If arrive earlier in the afternoon or a few days earlier, you can do some other UNESCO World Heritage Sites tours in Kathmandu Valley or a short day/day hiking around/near Kathmandu Valley. Or if you want us to set up an itinerary for youcontact us. 

Day 2 : Kathmandu City Tour - Visit to World Heritage Sites

Kathmandu sightseeing tour includes the visit to Swyombhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa. All these sites are enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is an ancient religious site atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. It holds great significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. . The temple complex is famous for its resident monkeys, considered holy. Offering stunning views of Kathmandu, it is a major pilgrimage site and cultural hub, hosting various festivals and rituals throughout the year.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal, is a historic and cultural hub known for its rich architectural heritage and significance. The square features a collection of courtyards, temples, and palaces, showcasing traditional architecture.  


Pashupatinath Temple is a revered Hindu temple complex located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most significant Shiva temples in the world.  The temple also serves as an important site for cremation rituals for Hindus.


Boudhanath Stupa: The massive stupa features a large mandala base and is adorned with Buddha's all-seeing eyes on all four sides, symbolizing awareness. Colourful prayer flags flutter from its central spire, spreading mantras and prayers with the wind. 


This tour ends at around 3-4 PM and you can prepare for your Mardi Himal Trek 8 days. 

Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. 

Day 3 : Drive to Pokhara 860 m. 6 hour drive covering 220 km / 137 miles. 
(Flight-Optional)

Morning with pack breakfast, get ready to go Tourist Bus park for overland journey to Pokhara. An exciting drive about normally 6 to 7 hours if there are no Traffic jams following the main Nepal busy highway, the drive leads along the Trisuli River. One of the most popular rivers for rafting adventure, the drive then diverts towards the west to reach Pokhara city. Along the drive, one can experience rural farm life with grand views of snow-capped peaks. Slowly the drive ends on reaching Pokhara by the lovely Phewa Lake side, where all good hotels are located. After checking into a nice room, having time to browse around the Phewa Lakeside.

(Optional:  Kathmandu to Pokhara, a scenic flight of 30 minutes)

Day 4 : Drive to Kande and Trek to Forest Camp( 2600m) via Australian camp 6 hrs

Initially, you will drive to Kande via Hemja directly from Pokhara or from the hotel where you stay.  After you reach Kande You will Start the trek, you will enter into Annapurna Conservation Area as you get to Pothana and then to Deurali. While walking from Pothana to Deurali, you will enjoy the beautiful view of Annapurna south and Ghandruk village. You will have lunch here at Deurali and trek to Forest Camp through the deep woods of Annapurna Conservation Area after ascending from Landruk village. 

Arrive at Forest Camp and Stay Overnight at the Lodge. 

Day 5 : Trek to High Camp 3,550 m via Badal Danda 3,215 m -05 hrs.

You will begin this journey to High Camp after your breakfast at Forest Camp. Slowly our journey leads closer to our destination, leaving Low Camp to reach High, the highest overnight stop. Morning walk continues facing spectacular views of Mt. Machhapuchare ahead with Annapurna South and Hiun-Chuli peaks. 
After a great morning walk reach High Camp for an overnight stay, having lunch either in Badal Danda or at High Camp. The air gets much cooler from here onwards towards Mardi Himal View our final destination.

Arrive at High Camp and stay at the lodge. 

Day 6 : Hike to Mardi View Point 4,500 m and trek to Low Camp - 06 hrs.


Spending a pleasant overnight at High Camp, the morning starts following the high ridge to Mardi Himal View Point. On the highest point of the adventure, from High Camp onwards tree lines fades for short alpine shrubs. The walk is quite strenuous but rewarding overlooking grand views of the Annapurna Himalaya range.

Finally, the morning hike reaches the final spot at Mardi Himal Viewpoint, enjoy the Machhapuchare Himal at a close distance. Includes fabulous views of Mardi Himal with a series of peaks that make the Annapurna massif.After a refreshing and scenic moment of a lifetime experience, head back to High Camp for a short refreshment stop. The walk continues further downhill to Low Camp for an overnight stop.

Day 7 : Trek to Sidding (1745m) and drive back to Pokhara( 860m), 3.5 hours Trek and 1.5 Hour Deive

Badal Danda to Siding Village is a picturesque and relatively easy trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trail descends through lush forests and terraced fields.

This section of the trek offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural encounters. You’ll pass through small hamlets and have the chance to interact with local Gurung people.

Siding Village, a traditional Gurung village located at an altitude of around 1,750 meters (5,740 feet). It’s a tranquil spot with warm hospitality. The village provides a glimpse into the rural lifestyle of the region.

First, you will head back to Siddhing village and have lunch here. Afterwards,  Drive to Pokhara city.

Arrive at Pokhara and enjoy the evening before you head for Kathmandu. 

Day 8 : Drive Back to Kathmandu ( 1320m) 7 hrs.

After breakfast then you will either fly( optional with extra cost) or drive back to Kathmandu. Meet our team with a cultural dinner in Kathmandu and we will drop you to the international airport accordingly. 

The Next Day,  For Your Departure home Wards, we will transfer you to the international airport accordingly.
