Two types of different permits are required for your Ghorepani-Poonhill Trek. They are TIMS Card ( Trekking Information Management System) Card and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit. The TIMS Card costs USD 20 and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permits costs USD 30. You can obtain these Ghorepani-Poonhill Trek Permits from your local travel partner or you can collect them directly. 
For Chitwan National Park, each of you has to have an entrance which will be managed by the national park guide and the cost is included in the cost of the trip mentioned.
All the required permits will be arranged by Haven Holidays Pvt. Ltd. and no extra will be charged for these permits for Poonhill Trek and Chitwan National Park. 

How are Food and Accommodation in Poon Hill Trek ?  

Until Pokhara, trekkers will enjoy luxury accommodation and they can have the food items they like. But, when they ascend to Ulleri and Poonhill-Ghorepani, they may not have much chance to have accommodation and food items. However, don’t be sad, there are plenty of lodges and guesthouses to organize your accommodation and food. Moreover, your guide will manage your beautiful food and accommodation for you during the trek. What the Transportation Options for Ghorepani Poonhill Trek with Rafting and jungle Safari? 

If you are starting the trek from Kathmandu, you will have two options: air and land and if you are starting it from Pokhara, then, you have got the only choice which is land. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is 40 minutes maximum and the road trip is 7-8 hours. Even, the road gets disturbed by heavy traffic and other issues. So, flight is recommended. 

But we are not directly going to Pokhara on his trip. We first drive to Trishuli Beach. It takes around 2.30 hrs and we enjoy white water river rafting there. Next, we drive to Chitwan and finally to Pokhara and then to the trailhead of Poonhill Trek. 

You can go up to Ulleir or Banthanti by jeep from Pokhara these days as there is expansion of rural road. As you end the trek at Ghandruk, you can directly drive back to Pokhara by four-wheel jeep or by public bus. 

After you get to Pokhara, you again have to drive to Nayapool/Birethanti for 2 hours and begin the hiking. While returning from Ghorepani-Poonhill, you can drive directly from Ghandruk to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu. ( Flight from Pokhara is optional)

Guide and Porter 

You require hiring at least a guide for your Ghorepani-Poonhill Trek. Without a guide, you are not recommended  doing Poonhill Trek. Hiring guide and taking his/her help will make your Poonhill Trek more fascinating, exciting and safer. 
 
The guide will be very smart with a government Licensed, coordinating the local flora and fauna, Entire Mountain views, well-known precautions, and local culture and speak English very well. Even the porter will help in many ways like carrying your baggage and helping in walking if the trail is straight up and steep down.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu 1,338 m and transfer to hotel.

Your trip starts from Kathmandu or Arrives at Nepal International Airport then the Haven Holidays representative will receive you. After getting introduced to the staff there at the Airport your baggage will be loaded either in car, coach or bus as per group size. A short drive to the centre of Kathmandu city, where your hotel is located. On checking into your lovely rooms, get refreshed from Jet-Lag, then get ready for group briefing at 4:30 pm, Where you will meet with other members who are going to do Ghorepani - Poon Hill Trek with Jungle Safari and Trishuli River Rafting. You will meet with the CEO of the Company, Tour guide and trek leader brief with related information regarding the trek, jungle safari and culture. Includes details on accommodation and food hours of walks and overnight stops and views along the treks.

Day 2 : In Kathmandu trek preparation and sightseeing tour.

After Breakfast, your Sightseeing tour starts from 9 to 10 am and after around 4/5 hours touring world heritage sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu is steeped with historical and religious interesting places, including many world heritage sites. Today, you will visit some popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Swyombhunath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. 

Kathmandu sightseeing tour includes the visit to Swyombhunath Stupa, Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa. All these sites are enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.


Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is an ancient religious site atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. It holds great significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. . The temple complex is famous for its resident monkeys, considered holy. Offering stunning views of Kathmandu, it is a major pilgrimage site and cultural hub, hosting various festivals and rituals throughout the year.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal, is a historic and cultural hub known for its rich architectural heritage and significance. The square features a collection of courtyards, temples, and palaces, showcasing traditional architecture.  

Pashupatinath Temple is a revered Hindu temple complex located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most significant Shiva temples in the world.  The temple also serves as an important site for cremation rituals for Hindus.

Boudhanath Stupa: The massive stupa features a large mandala base and is adorned with Buddha's all-seeing eyes on all four sides, symbolizing awareness. Colourful prayer flags flutter from its central spire, spreading mantras and prayers with the wind. 

After you end this exciting tour in Kathmandu, you will thoroughly prepare for river rafting, Jungle safari tours and trekking.

Day 3 : Drive to Trishuli River Beach 70 kms - 4 hrs.

Morning having breakfast, get a transfer into a Tourist coach, for the overland journey. An exciting drive 3 hours following the main Nepal busy highway, the drive leads along the Trisuli River. 

Before you get to the River Rafting destination/spot, you will pass through Malekhu, Benighat. 

You get off the bus walk to the riverside and begin this adventure journey, which provides stunning views. River Rafting is one of the most popular and accessible rafting adventures in Nepal. This river offers scenic beauty, thrilling rapids, and cultural experiences, making it ideal for beginners and experienced rafters.

Rafting for around 3 hours and staying overnight at River Beach Resort. 

Day 4 : Drive to Chitwan(205 m) 50kms- 3 hours.

After One of the most popular rivers for a rafting adventure, the drive then diverts due south towards low warm areas of the Terai belt. Where the dense green tropical jungle of Chitwan is located, along the drive one can experience the rural farm life. The drive heads beyond the main highway through farm villages to reach Sauraha, a town situated close to Chitwan National Park

On arrival at Chitwan, then check into a nice hotel or resort, where a jungle guide or naturalist will receive you. The briefing is held before checking into your rooms, the guide offers information regarding jungle activities and safari. Afternoon enjoy short nature walks or visit the local Tharu village the indigenous tribes of the Terai belt.

Day 5 : Chitwan Activities

After a warm breakfast at Chitwan Hotel, you will go for bird watching with canoeing. You can see a large number of crocodiles and bird species. You will enjoy this trip to see a very peaceful surrounding of Chitwan National Park in Rapti River. 


After lunch, you will go on a jungle safari/ jeep safari.  Elephant safari , It takes around 3 hours  and jeep safari around 4 hours round trip. 


We also go to see the elephant breeding Centre and finally attend a Tharu Cultural Dance and entertainment program in the evening.

Overnight at Hotel in Chitwan.

Day 6 : Drive to Pokhara (822 m)5/7 hour drive covering 154 km / 96 miles.

Morning having breakfast depart from the hotel for an interesting drive from Chitwan to  Pokhara for around 4 hours.  The road follows the main busy highway along the Trisuli River most of the way. On reaching Mugling Bazaar, the drive heads west facing views of the Annapurna and Manaslu Himal ranges.
After hours of good scenic drive reach Pokhara for an overnight stop in a nice hotel, located close to serene Phewa Lake. At Pokhara after checking into your lovely rooms, have time to browse around the Phewa Lakeside where all good hotels, restaurants, shops and stores are located.

Day 7 : Drive to Birethati and Trek to Ulleri - 6 hrs

After breakfast at the hotel in Pokhara, you will take one and half-hour drive from Pokhara to Birethati by private Vehicle and then trek to Ulleri (1950m). Initially, you will drive to Kande via Hemja, Naudanda and Nayapul to Birethati.  our trek starts from Birethati heading to Ulleri. The trail leads through small villages. You can observe their lifestyle and farmland with nice terraces you get Tikhedhunga where you will have lunch there. After lunch crossing a beautiful bridge you will ascend to Ulleri. There are nice paved stone stair septs all the way commanding magnificent views.

Overnight at a lodge Ulleri. 

Day 8 : Trek to Ghorepani village 2,885 m - 04 hrs.

After a refreshing break at Banthanti village populated by Magar and Gurung people, the main hill tribes of Western Nepal. Enjoy the views of Annapurna peaks. The walk continues, from Banthanti, as the trail gets better on the gradual winding path to Ghorepani.
The highest overnight stops of the trip, enjoy the lunch stop along the way and continue the trek on a winding path with short ups. The walk leads amidst beautiful woods of pines and rhododendrons to reach the main welcome gate, the entrance to Ghorepani village.

You will enjoy deep woods, serenity and natural waterfalls on the way to Ghorepani. First, you will reach Lower Ghorepani and after 15 15-minute walk, you will get to Upper Ghorepani or Main Ghorepani village.

Overnight at a lodge at Ghorepani. 

Day 9 : Morning hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,640 m - 07 hrs

Start the early morning hike Poon Hilltop (3210 m) takes about an hour or a little more. On reaching the top and the highest point of the adventure enjoy the stunning sunrise views. Poon Hill with an observation tower to catch more panoramic views of the staggering mountain range. After bright and striking sunrise views along with a grand panorama of the world’s highest peaks of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna Himalayas with arrays of snow peaks.  Being refreshed with cool morning breathtaking views, head downhill to Ghorepani for breakfast, and then continue walking. From Ghorepani on an alternative route, offers more scenic views with new places of southern ridges of Annapurna Himalayas. Climb to the top of Deurali Hill, which is almost the same height as Poon Hill and walk down to the river.

After you cross the suspension bridge, you will ascend to Tadapani. From the river, it takes around 2 hours to get to Tadapani. 

Day 10 : Tadapani to Ghandruk 2,012 m / 6,601 feet -04 hours

Morning enjoy another stunning sunrise view from Tadapani, from the lodge of overnight stay. Enjoy the close views of Annapurna peaks, having breakfast morning a short and easy walk to Ghandruk village.

Start the morning walk through beautiful woodland to reach the small settlement of Bhaise Kharka. Downhill starts down to a stream and then on a winding trail to Ghandruk. One of the largest Gurung villages around the Annapurna Himalaya range. The Gurung people with similar looks like Poon Magar of Ghorepani villagers. The Gurung follow Hinduism and Buddhism religion with their own ancient culture of the Bon sect of pre-Buddhism. At Ghandruk after checking into the best lodges available, after lunch explore the interesting village and its small Gurung museum.

Day 11 : Walk down to syauli bazaar and drive back to Pokhara-(860 m) 5 hours

Another grand morning view to enjoy along with the last breakfast around the high hills of Annapurna Himalayas. After breakfast a short walk downhill to Sayauli Bazar.

An interesting drive of more than three hours, as the road follows through lovely farm villages and towns. After an hour more ride, our route diverts from the Modi River uphill to Lumle and Kande. Slowly the drive descends to Nau Danda and then enters the Pokhara city. On reaching the Phewa Lake side, enjoy the comfort of nice lovely hotel rooms.

Afternoon at leisure for individual activities and stroll around the Lakeside. Or you can explore Phewa Lake, Davis Fall, Gupteswor Mahadev Cave and World Peace Stupa along with a massive Shiva Statue facing Machhapuchhre mountain. 

Day 12 : Drive to Kathmandu 9/10 hour and fly back to Kathmandu, 30 minutes (1,338 m).

Morning, after breakfast depart from the hotel for an interesting drive or fly back from Pokhara to Kathmandu around 30 minutes. The road follows on main busy highway, after leaving the Trisuli River, and then the road climbs on winding up to the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley. From the high end of the valley rim, the driver slowly enters the busy bustling city of Kathmandu. On reaching Thamel or near about then check into respective hotels, The afternoon is free for leisure for individual activities and the evening Farewell Dinner with a Nepali cultural program.

Day 13 : International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal and at Kathmandu, as time for your respective airline's flight departures.

Ensure all travel documents (passport, visa, tickets) are ready. Check in online if possible to save time. Pack essentials in carry-on (medications, electronics, documents).

Airport reporting time at least 2-3 hours before departure for international flights.
