If you are starting ABC Trek via Poonhill  from Kathmandu, you will have two options: air and land and if you are starting it from Pokhara, then, you have got the only choice that is land. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is 40 minutes maximum and the road trip is 7-8 hours. Even, the road gets disturbed by heavy traffic and other issues. So, flight is recommended.

After you get to Pokhara, you again have to drive to Nayapool/Birethanti for 2 hours or directly drive to Ghandruk or you can directly drive to Jhino Danda if you are following another trail and begin the hiking. While returning back from Annapurna Base Camp, you can drive directly from Ghandruk to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu. ( Flight from Pokhara is optional and still can be done in request)

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1,338 m/4,390 ft) and transfer to hotel.

On your first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport, a Haven Holidays Nepal representative will receive you. After being introduced to the staff, your baggage will be loaded in the car, coach or bus as per group size. A short drive to the centre of Kathmandu city, where your hotel is located. On checking into your lovely rooms, getting refreshed from Jet-Lag, then get ready for group briefing at 4:30 pm. Where you will meet with other members too, who are going to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Poonhill

Day 2 : Drive to Pokhara (822 m/2697 ft) 6 hour drive covering 220 km / 137 miles.

Morning with pack breakfast, get ready to go Tourist Bus park for overland journey to Pokhara. An exciting drive of about normally 6 to 7 hours if it is not Traffic jams following the main Nepal busy highway, the drive leads along the Trisuli River. One of the most popular rivers for rafting adventure, the drive then diverts towards the west to reach Pokhara city. Along the drive, one can experience rural farm life with grand views of snow-capped peaks. Slowly the drive ends on reaching Pokhara by the lovely Phewa Lake side, where all good hotels are located. After checking into a nice room, having time to browse around the Phewa Lakeside.

(Optional: by air from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a scenic flight of 30 minutes)

Day 3 : Drive to Birethanti and Trek to Ulleri ( 1950m/6,398 ft)) - 5hrs

After breakfast at the hotel in Pokhara, you will take a 1-hour drive from Pokhara to Birethanti and then trek to Ulleri ( 1950m). Initially, you will drive to Kande via Hemja then to Naudanda, Nayapul and Birethanti. After you pass Birethanti, you will ascend to Ulleri. As you arrive at Thikhedhunga you will have lunch here and walk up to Ulleri. It will take around 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Ulleri from Thikhedunga. Ulleri serves as an excellent introduction to the beauty and challenge of trekking in the Annapurna region. The village's welcoming atmosphere and stunning scenery make it a memorable stop on your journey. Overnight at a lodge at Ulleri.

Day 4 : Trek to Ghorepani village (2,885 m/9,465 ft)via Banthanti- 06 hrs.

After a refreshing break, Ulleri village is populated by Magar people, the main hill tribes of Western Nepal. Enjoy the views of Annapurna peaks. The walk continues, through Banthanti, as the trail gets better on a gradual winding path to Ghorepani.The highest overnight stops of the trip, enjoy the lunch stop along the way and continue the trek on a winding path with short ups. You will enjoy deep woods, serenity and natural waterfalls on the way to Ghorepani. walk leads amidst beautiful woods of pines and rhododendrons to reach the main welcome gate, the entrance to Ghorepani village. First, you will reach Lower Ghorepani and after a 15-minute walk, you will get to Upper Ghorepani or Main Ghorepani village.

Overnight at a lodge at Ghorepani. 

Day 5 : Morning hike to Poon Hil (3,210 m/ 10,531 ft) and trek to Tadapani 2,640 m - 06 hrs

Start the early morning hike, a climb to Poon Hilltop (3210 m) takes about an hour or a little more. On reaching the top and the highest point of the adventure enjoy the stunning sunrise views. Poon Hill with an observation tower to catch more panoramic views of the staggering mountain range. After bright and striking sunrise views along with a grand panorama of the world’s highest peaks of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna Himalayas with arrays of snow peaks.  Being refreshed with cool morning breathtaking views, head downhill to Ghorepani for breakfast, and then continue walking. From Ghorepani on an alternative route, offers more scenic views with new places of southern ridges of the Annapurna Himalayas. Climb to the top of Deurali Hill(Thaple Danda) which is almost the same height as Poon Hill and continue a little up and down, we get Deurali to have a morning tea break and walk down to the river.

After you cross the bridge, you will ascend to Tadapani. From the river, it takes around 45 hours to get to Tadapani. 

Day 6 : Trek Tadapani to Sinuwa (2340 m /7,677 ft.), 6 hours.

The trek from Tadapani to Sinuwa is a popular segment of the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek in Nepal. The trail initially descends steeply through rhododendrons and oak forests. You will pass through the small village of Gurung. After crossing the bridge, the trail climbs up to Chhomrong (2170m), a large Gurung village with spectacular views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare (Fishtail) You walk to Chhomrong village, you have to be careful about the landslide area that you encounter on the trail. 

Arrive at Chhomrong and have lunch there.  From Chhomrong, you descend via stone steps to the Chhomrong Khola. After crossing the river, there is a steep climb to Sinuwa, passing through lush forests. The final part involves a gradual ascent from Lower Sinuwa to Upper Sinuwa, where most trekkers stop for the night.

Stay overnight at the lodge. 

Day 7 : Trek to Deurali (3, 230 m / 10597 feet)-05 hrs

Initially, you will pass Bamboo, Dovan and Himalaya before you ascend up to Deurali.  As the walk continues through dense vegetation and tree lines to reach the Himalayas via Bamboo and Dovan.The trail leads through lush forests and is generally well-maintained. You will pass through bamboo forests, which is where the village gets its name.

The trail involves ascent, passing through dense forests with occasional views of the river and waterfalls. The trail becomes more rugged and steep, with increasing elevation gain. Himalaya, a settlement with 3 lodges, is located right beneath Annapurna South and Huin-Chuli peaks. A short walk with gentle ascend we get a large overhanging cave called Hinku Cave. After the Hinku Cave trail downhill close to Modi River with a short climb reaching a plateau, where Deurali is located. As you approach Deurali, the landscape starts to change, with fewer trees and more alpine vegetation, stands above 3,200 m high, a nice place to enjoy the surrounding views. From here the tree lines drop for short foliage and bushes, which Deurali places at the bottom of Hun-Chuli peak.

This segment of the trek is known for its beautiful landscapes and serene environment

Day 8 : Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m via Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m -5hrs.

Today’s walk takes you to our main goal and highlights, start the morning heading up and following the river upstream. A steep climb in some sections on a grassy path, as walk climbs on stone steps to MBC (Machhapuchare Base Camp).
MBC stands high beneath the towering North Face of Machhapuchare Himal the famous Fish Tail peak. MBC with a few good simple lodges and restaurants enjoys lunch-facing views of Machhapuchare, Huin Chuli, and Annapurna South. From MBC enjoy grand views of Annapurna-I towards the west, after lunch a short climb to enter the picturesque Annapurna Sanctuary. Walk on the easy gradual uphill trail to reach a Welcome Sign Post of Annapurna Base Camp. Then climb to a grassy plateau, where Annapurna Base Camp is located with several guest houses and lodges.  An exciting and glorious place to enjoy the day at Annapurna Base Camp, stay on the laps of staggering ice and snow-wall of Annapurna-I.

Day 9 : Base Camp Trek back to Bamboo 2300m | 7,546 ft. - 06 hrs.

A long day walk but much easier on downhill with a few short ups to Bamboo, morning bidding farewell to ABC. The walk follows past MBC to Deurali, from Deurali a slow climb and Hinko Cave and heading to Himalaya. As the walk continues reaching the dense tree lines arriving at Dovan and then down to Bamboo for an overnight halt.

Enjoy the dish you like and spend quality time with local people. 

Day 10 : Trek to Jhinu-Danda a place with hot spring 1, 700 m - 06 hrs and drive back to Pokhara

After a pleasant overnight stop at Bamboo with the cool air, morning a short ascend to Uphill and descent to Lower Sinuwa. The trail follows through enchanting woodland and local settlements with down to Chomrong Khola / stream.

On crossing a bridge a steep climb on steps to Chhomrong for lunch or you can directly go to Jhinu Danda for lunch. Jhinu Danda is known for its hot springs, so you might want to take a dip before heading out.  Finally, you will drive back to Pokhara with a jeep. The road is rough and bumpy, but the drive offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The road from Nayapul to Pokhara is much smoother. Once in Pokhara, you can enjoy the lakeside area, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops. It’s a great place to relax and reflect on your trekking adventure.

Day 11 : Drive back to Kathmandu ( Flight optional with extra cost) 8 hrs drive and 35 mins flight

Drive to Kathmandu passing through Damuali, Dumre and Mugling. Drive further along Trishuli River and arrive at hotel. Check in Hotel and relax. Buy some stuffs if you want.
