What is the best time for Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

The best time for Annapurna Base Camp Trek is Autumn months, the months of Sep, Oct and Nov. Which month is best for Annapurna Base Camp ?

The best months for the Annapurna Base Camp trek is generally considered to be September, October and November, as well as March, April and May. Is Annapurna Base Camp trek for Beginners ?

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek with maximum altitude 4160m is suitable for beginners with a moderate level of fitness. While it involves some uphill climbs and rugged terrain, it doesn't require technical mountaineering skills. With proper preparation, gradual acclimatization, and a reasonable pace, beginners can successfully complete the trek and enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way.

Majority of fresher or beginners do ABC Trek via Ghorepani Poonhill (3200m). This  way, the trekkers can test their stamina by ascending Poonhill( 3200m) before heading Annapurna Base Camp (4160m). They will properly acclimatize their body with new gained elevation at Poonhill and then finally they trek to Annapurna Base Camp via Deurali and Machhapuchhre Base Camp( 3700m). 

The beginners with basic skills of hiking or trekking with good level preparations can easily conquer over Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The ABC Trek doesn't really demand  any kind of technical skills of trekking and climbing. However, pack right and reliable trekking gears and accompany with professional and highly experienced trekking leader. 

What are the required permits for Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

TIMS Card ( Trekking Information Management System Card) and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit are the two mandatory trekking permits for Annapurna Base Camp. The trekkers can get these Annapurna Base Camp Trek Permits through their trekking partner located in Nepal. Once you provide the scanned copy of your passport and passport sized photographs, they will get it for you beforehand the trek begins. If you are planning your Base Camp Annapurna independently, you can apply the trekking permits online or you can directly visit the office of Nepal Tourist Boar located in Bhrikutimandap Kathmandu. Within half an hour, you will be able to get these two types trekking permits for ABC Trek, TIMS Card and ACAP. For this, one should at least arrive a day earlier in Kathmandu and proceed for it. The best way of getting trekking permits for trek to ABC is through the trekking agent you are using for your trip to Annapurna. 

How can I get Annapurna Base Camp Trek Permits?

The best and most reliable way of getting trekking permits for Annapurna Base Camp Trek is through the trekking company you are using for your ABC Trek. Once you book your ABC Trip, they will ask you to send your scanned copy of passport and passport sized photographs. After you send the required documents, they will get it prepared for you before you depart for the trek to Annapurna Base Camp. 

Optionally, you can apply for your Annapurna Base Camp Trek Permits via online. For this, you need to visit the official site of Nepal Tourism Board and fill all required information and apply for it. Those who plan their Annapurna Base Camp Trek independently, they can visit the Nepal Tourism Board Office physically and get the trekking permits for Annapurna Base Camp Trek which are TIMS Card and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit. Even, every trekking company and travel agent located in Thamel or in Kathmandu can get the required trekking permits for ABC Trek for you comfortably with some extra charge. 

What are the transportation options for Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

One can find both land and air transportation to go to Pokhara  from Kathmandu and get back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. But, while beginning the Annapurna Base Camp Trek from Jhino Danda, you need to go with Annapurna Base Camp Jeep Drive to hot spring located at Jhino Danda. Or, if you are going to Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poonhill, you can go with Poonhill Jeep ride to Ulleri and Banthanti via Nayapool and Birethanti. 

One can get sharing or private jeep for Jhinu Danda from Pokhara. Also, the trekkers can use public bus drive to get Jhinu Danda from Pokhara. It takes 3 hours to get Jhinu Danda from Pokhara by jeep drive. The bus drive may take longer hours like 4-5 hours to go to Jhinu Danda from Pokhara. 

If you are trekking to ABC via Poonhill, you don’t have any other options except four-wheel jeep ride to Ulleri/Banthanti from Pokhara. There is public buses and can go by private Jeep to Ulleri/ Banthanti from Pokhara too.
